The facility is a steel building constructed in 2002 and served as a warehouse and distribution center for many years. The building measures 150 feet long by 100 feet deep with steel posts centered across the span. This is approximately 15,000 square feet of usable space. The facility has two unisex bathrooms, team meeting space, gear storage, admin office, viewing mezzanine and four distinct practice spaces. The entire facility has high speed Wi-Fi access points and a guest network with login information posted. The building is protected with a dry fire suppression system, monitored fire alarm and 4K 16 channel camera system with remote. A keypad with unique team entry codes will grant teams access to the facility during their schedule practice times. The intent of this facility is to provide dedicated spaces with specific uses that will take little time to set up and transition. The facility is divided into three skill specific spaces:
Additionally, an open plyo/agility space will be open to all teams in that practice slot for shared use.
The fielding area is a great multi-use space with countless options for skill development. The space is 50 feet by 75 feet long and is fully enclosed. The ceiling net matches the slope of the roof (14 feet to 23 feet high). Ground ball work, base running, pick off moves, working runners, lead offs, double play footwork, games of pepper, circuit drills etc.
The pitching area has 3 dedicated pitching lanes that can be full 60’-6” pitching distance to 46’ little league distance. The mound is permanently fixed, solid base with plenty of room to stand behind the pitchers and coach. The plywood base is fully covered in 3/8” rubber matting. Softball players will pitch from the flat space in front of the mound and utilize the correct home plate for their pitching distance 43’ to 35’. No more moving mounds in and out! The two outside lanes have permanent pocket radar pro units with digital readouts that can be switched off.
The pitching machines/Live at-bat area will be coupled with the Pitching area to ensure players who do not pitch can be productive. The shell is 28’ wide by 70’ long with a center divider creating two 14’ x 70’ tunnels. You can warm up pitchers in the pitching area and have them move over to pitch to live batters in each of the tunnels. The same permanent mound structure is installed in the pitching machines/Live at-bat area. There are facility provided pitching machines that can be utilized in that space as well.
The front toss space is a 30’ by 50’ shell with 3 sliding curtains that creates 4 tunnels for front toss or tee work. The curtains can be opened to create a 30’ x 50’ open space for alterante uses. The Flex space is a 12’ x 70’ tunnel that has the same permanent style installed mound as the pitching area. The intent is that this space can be utilzed by the team assigned to the front toss area if a trainer is not onsite. The goal is to utilize the training/flex space to provide ATB members access to independent baseball/softball instructors that indiviuduals (must be a particiapant on one of the ATB teams) can schedule directly with for supplemental instruction.
The area will be open to all teams on the schedule for the practice time. The walls are built with reinforced plywood covered with ¾” rubber horse mats with countless “D” rings to attach bands. The walls are intended to take throws from weighed/plyo balls. This is a great space to have players rehab, strengthen weak or sore muscles, or let that pitcher only go through their individualized routine.
